Natural Awakenings of East Michigan

In November 2003, we launched Natural Awakenings here in East Michigan, originally serving the communities in and around Oakland and Macomb counties. The first issue was published in April 2004 and has been freely distributed every month since. Since that first month, that edition has grown to include Livingston and St. Clair Counties.

In October, 2006, we began publishing our second Natural Awakenings Magazine to serve the communities of Greater Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee counties, Michigan and then in July, 2010, we launched the East Michigan Pet edition of Natural Awakenings magazine, which covers all 7 counties that the other two local editions reach.

Our mission is to provide insights and information to our community in an effort to help educate, inform and bridge the gap between conventional and integrative/complementary approaches to health, wellness, green living and sustainability...for people and pets. We believe one gets the most effective care and can live a longer, more productive and healthier life when using the best of everything that is available. Each month we publish articles about health, fitness, nutrition, organics, personal growth, the environment and pet care. Through our advertisers and writers, our intention is to provide the tools readers are looking for to assist them along this path to healthy, sustainable living. 

In January 2011, we began the introduction in East Michigan of the Natural Awakenings Network, a discount card program, for the consumers and businesses in this region. This is a rather unique approach to the discount card model. Not only is the program supported through marketing and promotion provided by Natural Awakenings magazine and at the many events that take place in our community, but we have an online directory and the card is usable throughout the United States and Puerto Rico--wherever one of our 80+ sister-markets (and growing) exist and launch their companion local network.

We encourage everyone in this region to join us in this ongoing process of transformation. The tools we offer for this journey become meaningful only when you use them. When you find an article or advertisement intriguing to you, we invite you to call and get together with the individual or groups listed. The people that take part in Natural Awakenings enjoy talking about their experiences, area of knowledge and insights. Participating with them may lead you to new breakthroughs and carry you (and thereby all of us) further down this path of transformation toward better health and more earth-friendly living.
