From the Land, for the Land

Celebrate Earth Day at Westwind Farm

On Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., go to Westwind Farm in Swartz Creek for the annual celebration of Earth Day. The event has free admission and will feature activities for children and adults alike. Vendor items and concessions will be available for purchase.

Co-owner Linda Purdy says, “We hope that people, adults and children alike, feel empowered by creating and finding solutions for how they can be part of the solution to creating a more sustainable future for our people and planet. They can support local farmers and artisans who use clean ingredients in their products and promote the ideas of stewardship of the Earth we all inhabit. This year is the 54th anniversary of the first Earth Day. From this original celebration/protest came the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, and the fight to keep our planet habitable continues to this day.”

Westwind Farm has a vegetable CSA, eggs, a mill for producing stone-ground flours from organic Michigan grains, a place to buy fresh flours and baking mixes, as well as classes and events that create community and food naturally. It is owned and operated by Lee and Linda Purdy. Linda says, “It is our goal at Westwind Farm, LLC to create a successful business; content people producing healthy food for our community.”

Westwind Farm is located at 11487 Reid Rd. Swartz Creek. For more information, call Linda Purdy at 810-701-8151 or visit their website: WestwindMilling.com.
